Abdominoplasty, better known as Tummy Tuck, is the surgery that reshape the abdomen removing extra skin and fat and retightening the abdominal muscles that have been weakened or separated by pregnancy, aging, severe weight variations, previous surgery, genetics. With limited indication the Tummy Tuck can target just the lower abdomen, below the belly button: the so called MINI ABDOMINOPLASTY/TUMMY TUCK.

HOW TUMMY TUCK IS DONE
Abdominoplasty is often combined with liposuction of the area. During the surgery the tissues over the abdominal muscles are elevated, the underlying muscles are tightened, the extra skin and fat tissue is removed and the navel is repositioned where it belongs. The incision is horizontal, following the position of the underwear to be covered by it, similar to a C-section; it will become almost invisible in the following 6-12 months.

ABDOMINOPLASTY / TUMMY TUCK POST-OP RECOVERY
After surgery we recommend to wear spanx for two months. Abs muscles should be left at rest for two months but after around twenty days you can go back to physical activities. The first week after surgery is the one that requires more caution, but in around fifteen days is possible to go back to almost normal life. Tummy Tuck is done under general or epidural anesthesia.

Duration of intervention: about 1h 30′
Recovery Times post-operatory: about 15 days. The patient will wear a containment sheath for 2 months
